Here are tie clips that my Father had. Both are made by Swank, and probably are from the late 40s-mid 50s era.

I'm not sure of the first one, but as I see it, it could be either a tie clip or a money clip. If it is a money clip, due to it's length, I'd say that it produced before our present currency was changed to its present size, as the item is about 0.5 inches, 1.1 Cm wider than present bills

The second clip, obviously, is for a tie, but due to its crossbar being short, it was made to fit narrow ties.
