Kralik Ball vase from 1925-35. This decor is polka dot and is surprisingly symmetrical. If you look at the base, the piece looks as if a red cane was cut piece by piece as another glass blower rotated the piece. My alternate theory is a glass blower laid out the lozenges of red glass in a single line then he rolled the vase over them in a spiral.... But then how to explain the symmetry of each polka dot between the melon ribs design??

I would go with your first theory...makes more sense.
