A beauty
The decoration has many aspects of the "Blue Willow" pattern on Japanese and some English pottery/porcelain. The scene is of Mt. Fuji in the background, a pagoda and the bridge. I don't see the couple running away from their father but decoration definitely Japanese. I don't read Japanese but someone might be able to tell you what the wording is on the corner of the case. RER
