6 inch high, 4 square sides with one being a handle. Green Depression Glass Pitcher. I have never seen anything like it before. Despite a few flea bites its still among the most unusual pieces of Depression glass I have ever seen. I cant find anything like it any where. Do you know?

Ooh this is great parrot! Very unusual. Is it uranium glass?

Good question vintage fran. I have thought it might be uranium glass but other than a black light how can one tell? As, I have no black light. Thanks ,P&P

In the eb.. forum on glass and pottery, someone suggested this piece... a: Had a lid at one time and b: Is a batter pitcher. Only because of vague similarities to a picture of such a pitcher. in a book on kitchen D. glass. Well, there is no real place for a lid unless it was a cap with edges...too bulky and heavy ( unless metal) in my opinion. And why batter? Any one, have any idea of who and why or what? Thanks P&P

Excellent piece and I have no clue either.

no idea either but does have a nice form. As to the batter jug suggestion: it does seem to be consistent with other batter jugs. There's the flat top. The flared top edge/rim would allow placement or insertion of a lid, not that all batter jugs had lids. IF there was a lid, it would most likely was glass. To me the batter jug idea doesn't fit well with the square shape as it wouldn't be too easy to mix batter in that shape; but then form does not always follow function.

It reminds me of my Vitamix pitcher.
