Here is information on the ship USS SC-518:

      http://www.navsource.org/archives/12/150518.htm

It was originally commissioned as PC-518 (1941) and reclassified to a Sub Chaser (SC) in 1943.

The framing looks old (late 40s- 60s), while the marker ID looks to be later.

It may have been added in later years by the sailor who retained it or a family member. Any history to confirm it came from that particular ship?

This commission Pennant came from an estate sale. I do know the man was on the USS Cowell DD-547. I do think the pennant was framed at a later time probably in the 60's. I also know this man was a collector of many items.
      Thanks for your information.
