This Perivale Art Deco mantel clock is from the early 1930's, I believe. It has glass on all sides so one can view all the working parts which is plated in chrome. The front and back panels can be opened and the chimes are of the Westminster kind. It is working perfectly and needs to be wound up daily. I love hearing the chimes during the night. Does anyone know more about this clock and its value?
I have a Perivale clock, it is also a mantle clock but it runs for 8 days between winding, Westminster chimes on the quater hour, striking the hour .
They were made in Great Britian with 8 day and 30 day movments. Mine is one of the first ones they produced marketed under the name of Anvil, the movement is marked Perivale. Later models were marketed under the name of Bethina etc.
There is no catalog of the Perivale Clockworks output. They produced clocks from 1935 to about 1942. Of those that I have seen your appears to be rare. I would bet your clock is an 8 day movement but stops after 1 day. I would take it to a clock repair shop to verify this and get it repaired. I also love listening to mine at night. The British & Irish Clock and Watch Makers (c1600-c1940) have a project going to catalog all the Perivale clocks.
