This is a very curious piece. It's 10" in diameter and made of a very heavy stone ware with a two tone glaze of brick red over glazed in dark brown. Seems to have an Asian influence with a fan pattern on the flat lid and 12 side panels with two rope like handles on each side. There are no marks anywhere. At first I thought it might be a casserole dish but the unfinished edges and bottom show no signs of food staining or of it ever being put in the oven. Very clean overall and in perfect condition. They had it priced relatively high but it was half price yesterday so I figured it was a good buy. -Mike-
