    I picked up these old handcuffs with a lot of stampings on them. I do not know much about them, but I do believe they were used.

      raven1, I'm not sure you are still checking in on CW, but I can at least offer some information on these handcuffs.
      These are manufactured by the Peerless Handcuff Company in Springfield, Massachusetts, and are a Model 3 Version 3 that was manufactured around or after
      1970. In 1970, Peerless set up a new manufacturing facility at 95 State Street. Several modifications are made to the model 3, version 3 presumably to reduce manufacturing cost. The thickness of all cuff body (lock case) pieces are slightly reduced from 9.84mm (as on the version 2) to 8.83mm on the version 3. The anti-shim notch on the ratchet (part of the 1,872,857 patent is eliminated. The dogs that engage the pawl ditch are replaced by stampings to create the dogs that leave a visible detent (circle) on the exterior lock body. The Peerless logo was also eliminated from the lock case.
      With the handcuffs laying flat, the key way facing up and the jaw (movable swing- through arm) at the bottom, this is the front view of the handcuffs (if the left cuff in photo #1 was turned over so the key way is visible you would have the front view).
      Identifying the Model 3 Version 3:
      The front side of the left cuff has a serial number stamped on the body (lock case) between the key way and the swivel for the chain.
      The right front cheek (non-movable arm) & left rear cheek are marked:
      THE PEERLESS HANDCUFF CO.
      SPRINGFIELD, MASS.
      The right front & left rear cheeks are marked:
      PATENT
      1531451-1872857
      MADE IN U.S.A.
      The Peerless Handcuff Co. is still owned by the Gill family ( James Gill founder June 22, 1914), and the company can give you the day, month & year and to who the handcuffs were shipped by the description and serial number on the handcuffs.

      Peerless. They wanted to be companion to Smith and Wesson. They got their trade mark leaving keyhole up and down ..S&W angled it
