oriental tribal rug

i have had this rug for a few years now, it was a present from an afghan gentleman that i had befriended,he has since passed away,but i have always tried to have the rug identified,it is coloured with natural dyes,i know it is a tribal piece,but could never identify the type or design of this brightly coloured rug,any info would be appreciated.the closest i have come to a name is SOUMAK,but,am still very unsure.
