Metal bird hunter pair (bronze)?

I found a lot of cool things this week! I am wondering if anyone knows what these two metal figures are depicting (aside from men with birds and guns). Or anything else about the pieces. They are unsigned and are about 10" tall not including the base. As a former librarian, I really love the stories behind all these antiques, collectibles and other things. Thanks for your thoughts! They are bolted on to the wood round stands with a crude bolt. The bolt seems newer than the statues but, I am not sure.
