it is 3 feet sq. and 2 inches thick, and weighs 80 lbs. it is made of 7000 pieces of wood and 100 different types of trees. it was started in 1888 and finished in 1895, at least that is what it says in inlay. were these kinds of things common back then and did it have a purpose like a story to tell? or for work? or deco?
