Made by Simons Bros. this thimble is clearly engraved with the name "Blanche" on the front, and "9" (thimble / finger size) on the back.

Stamped inside is 14k as well as the hallmark of Simons Bros.

Does anyone out there know why so many thimbles of different makers were engraved with names, words like Faith, Hopeful etc.
