I'd be grateful for any information about this clock. It is stamped A. D. Mougin inside but there isn't a maker's name on the face. We have had the clock for approximately 40 years but haven't been able to find out anything else about it.

    Thank you.

If light passes through it it is Onyx. If not then marble.

Great info fortapache, I'll thank you for that comment! Does that stand true for white stone as well? And is Onyx the better of the two?

I do have something similar myself, although this one appears to be older and of better quality, which is nice.

I am not sure about white stone/slag glass/jadeite etc. But I am thinking just marble will be opaque and all the others will let light shine through them.

Thank you fortapache - so we have a marble clock. I'm really hoping that somebody might have an idea of the maker. Am I right in thinking that A. D. Mougin is the maker of the movement and not the actual clock? I know absolutely nothing about clocks!
