The translation of the old French writing reads as follows

Translation of the writing on the clock

“ EMPIRE CLOCK , HAVING BELONGED TO THE EMPRESS JOSEPHINE, ORIGINATING ( COMING FROM ) THE SALE OF HER FURNITURE MADE ( CONDUCTED ) AT MALMAISON AFTER HER DIVORCE FROM NAPOLEON FIRST “

    Unsolved Mystery

I would appreciate to hear from collectors about such clocks as it is not common to see clocks made of thick paper and wood. It has stood for such a long time and the machanism is still in excellent condition.
