Don't even know where to start with these; first two photos depict front and back of each; there are zero marks/stamps on the bottom. Each individual vase is a 2-part item - held together at the base by what appears to be a cork and some hardware. I know the set is old, the hardware looks ancient. Can anyone help me identify? Would love an educated guess as to the age!! Any advice would be great, thanks!
Do you think they were originally lamp bases?
That will help date them.
I don't think they were lamp bases-there are no connector pieces through the tops of them, or any evidence that anything had ever been in there.
This were vases possibly from the victorian era but someone tried to turn them into lamps. No vase has ever been made like that. Someone then tried to turn them back into vases possibly 1940s or 50s. I hate it when oeopke take good vases and turns them into lamps.
No, I really don't think these ever were lamp bases. The interiors of the vases aresmooth and untouched-there is no evidence that there was hardware or rods through them.
No, they probably never were lamps however someone tried to make them lamps. That is a lamp plug in the bottom.
Let me take a closer look and maybe get some more pics to post, but in the meantime do you have any idea how old they might be?
From the pictures, they appear to be late 1800s-early 1900s possibly english transferware.
