Vintage Swank Cufflinks

I love the look and design of this particular pair of cufflinks. However, I cannot determine what material the piece of made out of. It's not enamel. It feels like it may be some type of resin or something of that nature. How can I tell if it's onyx? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
