    Help me identify these. My grandfather in-law brought these back from somewhere during one of the wars, possibly Korean war. I don't have much more info than that. He has passed, grandma has Alzheimer's. What are these??? Please and thank you.

      These look a little different to Igorot busts I have seen, but in the same general style.
      Is this timber dark,? It's a bit hard to tell.
      Add a photo if you can of the back of the head and maybe a side shot too.

      They are super dark wood, mahogony maybe. They have green felt on the bottom and there are no markings whatsoever.

      My feeling is that they are Igorot, or Cordillera, and maybe from the Ifugao tribe. They do carve ancestor busts, and these are older people, and use kamagong wood, a dark fruit wood.
      I am no expert however, but a SE Asian expert at a museum (maybe email them) will have a better idea.
      Whatever they are there is no denying how skilfully made and beautiful they are.
