This was a most wonderful birthday present from my best friend. I have just started the process of restoring it. If anyone has experience with these trunks I would love some advice, I love it even in its current state! I would like to know the name of the trunk and be sure of the age. From the research I've done I'm fairly sure its between 1900 and 1910. But I am happy to learn from someone with more knowledge if I am off track. Thanks!

Lovely Louis V. -- I have one that was in similar shape and I restored it to a more presentable state. (see on my page) The canvas can be gently cleaned -- slats lightly sanded, rivets polished with fine steel wool. I used pecan stain on my slats. Of course all of this greatly changes the look and some prefer them not to be restored to a degree. Good luck with it all!
