I bought this painting at an auction a few years ago and love it but I cannot find out anything about the artist or nail down exactly when it is from or what it depicts. The artist's name appears to be Peel and it is a gouache and about 14 x 17. It looks to me like it might be former Yugoslavia. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much Thomas. I am not sure it is the same Peel though since the dates seem wrong based on the uniforms of the soldiers in the lower right of the picture, which look like at least WWI. But I really appreciate the help.
