This tapestry has been in the family for years. My husband & I have tried researching this beautiful piece. We were told that it may have been painted in Rome or Venice & is possibly from the late 1800s.There is no signature that we can see. Maybe hidden? It appears to be woven tapestry. It is painted on as you can see on the backside in pic # 3. It would be very interesting to learn more about this!

Copy of a Painting done by Léon Bonnat (French, Bayonne 1833–1922 Monchy-Saint-Eloi)1875. I have seen dozens of these copies over the years. Late Victorian era.
