Questions about my SENG lounge chair

I picked up this MCM lounge chair made by SENG of Chicago at a flea market a few weeks back. Upon inspection I discovered a small piece of tape under the seat rib labeled "SAMPLE" written in pencil. I also discovered others numbers/letter combinations scrawled in pencil under the seat. There are marks made at the drill holes for the hardware marked in red pencil. Is this a floor model (demo) sample or possibly a prototype for a manufacturer that may have been on display at a market show?
