Unusual sandwich glass

This is clear glass, not pink as photo suggests (sorry about that). I acquired it from ancestors in Ohio, so it could well be an Anchor Hocking piece but have been unable to find anything similar online to compare it to. Measures 11" x 6 1/2" and is a heavy piece with footed base. What was meant to be served in this dish (not mashed potatoes, for sure!)? It is a beautiful, unusual dish, and I'd love to have more info about it if you have some to share.
