In the photo the boots have a shine on them. Those are little holsters attached to the sides with tiny pistols in them. (I assume they were plastic). The boots are leather with inlaid stars and little metal buttons. The seams are sewn and the heels are tacked ...not glued. This little fellow is my older brother back in the early 1940s. My mother, as moms do, kept his little boots.
A lovely and endearing little snapshot of your mother and brother..... Very touching. [;>)
