Trying to figure what kind of chest this is? Not sure what kind of chest or what era it's from! It's very interesting it has a complete map of the world in it.

Looks like you have a dome top trunk from the early 1900's. The tin pattern as well as the slat clamps have an unusual design. This would look nice refinished if you so desired...
Agree with Trunkman, early 1900's, and have never seen slat clamps or tin pattern like this, very cool and would look really nice refinished good find.
