    One side has teeth that are short, not sharp and not close together. The other side is a shallow bowl with edge. Wood handle has a brass connection to cast iron.

      I don't know what it's used for but I'll guess that you put some gas or kerosene (maybe even hot coals) in the bowl & burn it to make the thing hot.
