This is very heavy solid brass / bronze item. The inside seems to have a softish liner.
I assume the 3 stands for a size designation though if it is weight - it looks to me like maybe a piece of lead that size would likely weigh more than 3oz. The mold itself weighs 3lb 4oz & measures 4 1/2" long & 3 1/2" high.
It looks like you could clamp it around a light chain, with the double-holes on either end, and then cast something onto the chain (?)
