This Japanese vase, Lily China by the mark on the bottom, was given to my father in the 1960's by an elderly woman moving from an adjoining apartment. I don't know much about it except the older couple had traveled in Asia extensively and presumably picked it up somewhere. It's remains a fond connection to my father who died while I was relatively young. I really love this little vase, 8.75" high and am curious if anyone can tell me more about it's origins, what "period" it might be from. I can't find anything even close to its hand painted pastoral theme and I would like to tell folks when they ask me about it something more than it's a Japanese vase!

Mount Fuji in the background. The colors are beautiful.
"Made In Japan" normally indicates mid-century, so it was likely contemporary in date when given to your parents. This was made for the export market. I see what could be very tiny artist initials near the bottom of the vase, middle photo.
