My favorite potteries are California, and Vernon Kilns, is one of my favorite California Potteries. They made so many different wares, figurines, and art pottery.
This Yakima, Washington Plate is made by Vernon Kilns Pottery.
The plate is 10 3/8"dia. On the front is YAKIMA, above a bowl of fruit, and under the bowl is, FRUIT BOWL OF THE NATION surrounded by scenes related to Yakima. On the back, it's marked Designed exclusively for Yakima Wash. Chamber of Commerce BY VERNON KILNS U.S.A.
This plate was made in a single color, burgundy, blue, or brown, or like this one is, with more colors added.
This is just one of the many Commemorative, or Souvenir Plates, that Vernon Kilns made, for Companies, Cities, States, Countries, or Events.
I may have 50 or more different plates, of the probably, 1000's that They made, from the 1940's-1954.
