I bought this set at least thirty years ago in a museum gift shop Smithsonian, I think) and it was said to be a replica of an amethyst and gold set in their collection. Again, no maker's mark on the reverse. I don't wear them together as it seems to much of a good thing. Any ideas who might have made it? Brooch slightly more than 2 inches long. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm afraid it's not possible to trace your jewelry to a specific maker.

Here's what is presently in the Smithsonian jewelry collection:

Your beautiful brooch is a replica of an Edwardian Brooch of diamonds, platinum washed yellow gold, and a whooping 96 carat Brazilian amethyst. Though you don't have the real thing or might never know who made it, it is absolutely beautiful and I would wear it with pride. I agree, leave the earrings home. I don't believe earrings were part of the donation to the Smithsonian, though I could be wrong. Anyhow, it's lovely.

It is a lovely set! I absolutely love it! I have wish I had a similar set in amber.. I'm a truly amber jewelry lover.. And I wish there were more sets of earrings and brooches. Not always necklaces is a thing. Beautiful set!
