I have never seen anything quite like this so I had to have it. The low back and paw feet lead me to believe that this rocker may have started life as an arm chair. It doesn't seem to fit any American furniture period. No matter It sits well. I'd love to get a little help identifying it.

I thought so too but the paw feet don't say empire to me.

Thanks! None of my books show anything like this. I love the way the arm gently continue into the back. It's just really comfortable. Empire is 1800s right? No guarantees that this is not later and in the empire style. Would you venture a guess as to dating. Once again thanks for your help.

Rare 1800's Antique American Victorian Edwardian Mahogany kings chair. measures 36" tall and 27" wide. Beautiful wood chair. Need upolstering. Not sure of the date of the chair. Roadshow estimate from email was 1800's American. English Regency or English Edwardian style. Nice lion paw feet with wheels on the front paws! Found info on this link below bc ee also have same chair. And found your info while googling and thought id share in case you didnt see this link below.

I posted some pictures of my rocker and loveseat that are extremely comparable to this rocker. It belonged to my grandmother and has a tag manufactured at Abernathy Furniture Co of Kansas City. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Pictures posted under rockers in unsolved mystery.
