Another Church Rummage sale find this Pine piece 14" high and in wonderful condition was 50 cents and still available an hour after the sale started. I did make a little donation to get over my feeling that I was cheating with 2 other nice finds for a total of less than $3.
Paul Caron established a whole school of carving and many later pieces of lesser quality have added vibratool fake signatures.
Red felt is sometimes found on the base but this has gilt lettering hand made (in French) and the full address. I love it.
The figure I believe is one of a pair representing early Quebec habitants.
