This very big old cast-iron pot was found loat a yard sale. The lady said she thought her aunt had said it was made in Germany. Can anybody please tell me who made it?

The only LC I know of is Le Creuset, which is French.

In American cast iron, the gate mark on the backside, it looks like a raised crack, is a sign of antiquity, 1800-1890, after that the casting process was changed. I don't know if that information transfers to European makers. Great piece!
