hi just seeking info on exactly what this is and what is it used for? it is only 9 cm diameter
i have had it a few years now from a house clearance

It appears to be a small Chinese cloisonne dish from around the 1930s. Small dishes like these were often part of a "smoking set" comprised of a canister, a matchbox cover, and a small dish such as this for an ashtray. They're sometimes also listed in auctions as pin dishes.
