Just bought this beautiful piece today. I like to think I saved it from a shop owner as she was going to CHALK PAINT it!!
I know nothing about it other than she said, "It was bought in another country 50+ years ago."
Now, that could be true... or not true. It is old. There are bubbles in the glass. The back of the drawer has dovetails. The inside looks like a cherry wood. There are no labels or markings other than Craftsman's handwriting in places like the bottom drawer and back.

Any ideas on where I start in trying to identify the style or wood or origin of this piece? I would like to find more pieces like it. It's a mystery right now and I love it!

Shabby chic is a fad that keeps coming and going. Sadly, good pieces keep going to junk with it. Maybe that will actually improve the furniture market in the future, when unrestored originals are hard to find.
