What is the purpose of this vintage elongated silver spoon with Mother of Pearl handle? It has an American Silver Co hallmark stamp but I'm not sure if it is sterling or plated. It's approx 9 in length.

This spoon could very well be from American Airlines. Or is that Pan-Am... It was probably snagged by someone flying as a momento. At least that's what the logo looks like to me.
