    I found this chest many years ago at an antique shop. Maybe you can find the descendants of Lela Barry of Texas. According to my research she is the daughter of former Mayor of Dallas, TX in the late 1800's to early 1900's.

      If it helps, your trunk is a canvas covered, American made travel trunk from the late 1890's to early 1900's. It is a well made trunk with cast iron latches, slat clamps, and corner fingers.
