      I've seen old scales that would have different prices per lb/oz across the length of cylinder. Usually produce, the item could be weighed and the price determined by reading across the cylinder to the appropriate price per weight. The produce worker would put the stuff in a bag and write the price on the outside of it. My first job was in a grocery store in 1970. I remember a produce scale with the cylinder but it was on a shelf and had a platform. That's my guess. Look in the cylinder and see if you can different prices per wt.
