I received this rocker from my mother. The story went that it was made for a princess (somewhere the paperwork got lost, but my mother did have it at one time). My mother had it for as long as I can remember, she received it from her aunt. We were never allowed to sit in because of the seat having a hole. My mother kept it in her bedroom with a handmade doll sitting on it. It was passed along to me the last time I went home for a visit. I now keep it in the bedroom-usually has a sign hanging on it-please do not sit on me as I am very old! Sorry the pictures aren't better-used my cell phone.
I do not know what type of wood it is, I see no makers marks, nothing. I wouldn't even know where to look either. I am wondering if it had some repairs at one time as some of the screws seem a bit larger than the other ones. Some seemed to be tapped in as in small nails, some larger, some of the nails and screws have rounded heads. They are all very dark almost black in color.
So I am wondering does anyone know anything about a rocker like this? What is it's value? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
