      just want to know what it is made of and what it was used for originally. found in an attic of an old house that was built in the 1920's.

      Rookwood pottery. Produced 1922 (XXII). A nice find. Other number is shape designation.

      I should have added - although the term “sconce” is correct, it more commonly called a “wall pocket”. You’ll get more results searching with that term.

      art.pottery Thanks for the information. That makes sense that it is called a wall pocket. because it is narrow, it seems they must have made it to hold some foliage
      or maybe a single flower. it looks like over the years it may have had dirt or moss inside it too. Thank you
