Bird's the word with this colorful set of Steiff woolen miniature sparrows!
Here we have a mother-daughter set of Steiff's tiny pom-pom woolen sparrows. The mom is 8 cm and the baby is 4 cm. Both are standing, head jointed, and made from brown, tan, white, grey and red woolen yarns. They have orange felt beaks, brown felt tail feathers, and adorable tiny black button eyes. Both have feet that are made from metal which has been painted brown.
This bird design was produced overall from 1949 through 1983 in 4 and 8 cm.
These birds are adorable. I love all in your collection, but I'm partial to birds and dogs. When I was still teaching kindergarten, I collected Beanie Babies, and used them as tools in the classroom. I donated several hundred of them to a heavily damaged elementary school in Biloxi after Katrina. Beanie Babies don't compare to your detailed and charming Steiff stuffed animals. Thanks for posting.
