It had some kind of inscription that appears to have the outline of a keyhole. It's very old although I'm not sure how old. Im also not sure of the type of metal. Pretty cool finding and seeing my grandpa's old stuff, I wish I knew more about it, maybe then i would know more about who he was.

Agreeing with kwqd, it definitely gives me a "Masonic" vibe too. Nice old ring anyway, take it to a reputable jeweler in your area for help determining what metal it is made of. (if Masonic, likely silver or pewter or something 'good'...??) :-)
