Just wondering what to do with this... Has been around a long time in the family but really do not need it. Paper 25 cents just seems like a waste now a days. Anyway if anyone has an idea of the history or whatever... floridaron@earthlink.net Thanks R

Well at least you didn't have to carry around that dreaded loose change back then. :)

Your right, maybe we should take a hint from history...

The history of the US Fractional Currency can be found on the resource page here on Collector's Weekly. If you go to the site you will also have more resources available to you that will include interviews and websites that talk about this specific subject. Check it out...

From what I have seen, it is from around 1862.
