Singer sewing machine ca1885 serial 6526729. Not sure what model or current value (i.e., should I get it restored or use the treadle and base for another purpose). Decals are a seahorse/pegasus motif with “SPECIAL” instead of the usual “SINGER”.

A little further looking and I'm not sure it's a Singer. Serial # is on the base plate behind the machine facing away from the user. The needle plate says "NEW LEADER S.M. CO. CLEVELAND OHIO." The manual (assuming it's the correct manual) has a list of parts for "Model C" and is titled "Directions for Operating The New Improved Family Sewing Machine."

Not quite the same machine. Mine has different decals.
There's a Singer publication in one of the drawers that was last edited in 1929.

Only problem is the posting is down now.
That's about as far as I've gotten too. Too bad most of the info about these manufacturers seems to have been lost.
I just called them. Like Singer, they no longer help with this sort of thing.
However, I think it's a White VS of some sort. I'll have to check when I get back to it but i seem to remember the bobbins having hollow cores. The cabinet does look like a match for some White machines.
Thanks! I called Singer and ignored the IVR this time. They weren’t able to directly help because they no longer own the historical model information and pointed me to ismacs.net. The woman I talked to was quite nice about it and seemed a bit interested herself.
Oddly, the copy of that manual Singer has isn’t in much better shape.
I’ll try to get the manual I got with mine scanned soon. It’s in pretty rough shape so it’ll take me a bit.

I have one that I have been very unsuccessful finding information on. It looks like this one. Mine says stewart on it and serial number in on back too! Did you find anything on it?
