My uncle gave this desk to me on his deathbed stating it was pre-civil war but I have not been able to find out any other info on it and there are no markings on it. I was wondering if anyone might recognize any of the features on it. Thank you.

Chaley — I have almost exactly the same desk. There are a few detail differences, but so similar. Same size and style certainly. Same wood. Same drop front. Mine does not have green felt. If you open the front drawer, look at the left size of the drawer proper, is there any marking? What about under the drawer? How are the drawer edges put together? Mine is marked. But boy a Civil War desk ... I don’t think.

Hard to tell the date on this-- certainly could be 19th century.

If it is early, the brasses look like later additions.

A photo of the drawer joints would be good and maybe later a photo of the back and bottom-- if you have the inclination to empty and photograph?
