The Item in question cleaned. I have done my best to get as much visual evidence to corroborate my claim as possible. I apologize for cramming so much into the images but I only have 4 pics to convey the evidence. The one single irrefutable piece of evidence are the Schrager lines. These show continuously around the object and I have included pics of these. These structural ligaments form a lattice like structure within the tusks and are the parts that give it its strength. These ONLY occur in Mammoth ivory. Second is that in order to be considered a rock it must include 2 individual minerals this object is one solid piece of material. Any colorations are superficial and deliberately applied in patterns. I flecked of 4 separate loose colored spots, as shown in images and the colorant is surface only. Hope to see Archaeologist this week. I enjoyed the comments and the challenge. Cheers

Lots to digest here NENativArt, but admittedly as a skeptic (who also admittedly knows next to nothing about such stuff) I'm otherwise very much looking fwd to further reports of what you can learn from your Archeologist.

After all, ain't that one of the reasons we all subscribe to CW and show off whatever "our" personal favorite varieties of 'weird old stuff' might be...??
