    I'm really not sure what this exactly is or was used for, but it fits pretty good in your hand and it looks like some type of bricklayer's tool... there's some old concrete still in the holes on either side, It's either that or an old form of brass knuckles! what do you think?

      Could it be a stirrup? If you google search "brass stirrups" there are lots that look somewhat similar.
