    I bought this jewelry box at an estate sale. The bottom has a sticker that reads Jewel Case Manufactured for MELE Utica, New York 13503 Product of of Japan.

      Mele has been in business for over 100 years. Yours was made after 1963 when Zip Codes were introduced. As you see, some of the boxes are made off shore. My grandmother worked there when they made a lot of boxes in Utica.
