This is an old Carolina Telephone & Telegraph directory. I have lived in North Carolina for 14 years and sometimes you will hear the people talk about the old days of Carolina Telephone - long gone and almost forgotten. These directories are hard to find and I had to pay for them - not cheap! LOL This directory is interesting because it is for Wake Forest located in Wake County. Expect to pay around $50 or more for a directory like this from Carolina Telephone because they are almost impossible to find.

I took an enlarged look at this image. It's typical for small towns and rural communities that had dial switching to use only four digit numbers. Unlike manual exchange numbers, all of those dial numbers had four digits.
