Citizens Independent Telephone Company

Telephone service was established in Port Townsend, WA in 1885 by the Sunset Telephone and Telegraph Co. with nine subcribers. In 1903 a second telephone company was established and it was called the Citizens Independent Telephone Company. They both operated until 1916 when the Citizens Independent Telephone Company consolidated the two. Some time during the great depression the Citizens Independent Telephone Company was purchased by Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co.
