use depends on size; those averaging around 10"-11" diameter are most often listed as fruit or banana bowls; however Imperial Glass has also cataloged these as celery trays. So for an "original" use as intended by any mfg. would require original catalogs.
FYI. the is the 505 Bellaire pattern by Imperial Glass introduced c1913 and made for many years until the closing of Imperial Glass and beyond, as their molds were transferred to companies that purchased the company.
